The Physiological Society of Japan was founded in 1922.

The 1st Annual Meeting of The Physiological Society of Japan (1922).

The Physiological Society of Japan (PSJ) was founded in 1922, when its first Annual Meeting was convened on July 10 at the Faculty of Medicine, Tokyo Imperial University (now the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo).
With 37 scientific presentations, this inaugural meeting marked the beginning of organized physiological research in Japan and established a tradition of annual scientific exchange that continues today.
Since then, the Annual Meeting has been held every year except in 1944 and 1945, when scientific activities were suspended because of World War II.

July 10 – “Physiology Day”

July 10 was designated as "Physiology Day" by The Physiological Society of Japan in 2022 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its founding.
The date honors the first annual meeting of the Society, held on July 10, 1922, and highlights the importance of physiology in understanding how living organisms function under normal and changing conditions.
Through Physiology Day, PSJ promotes public awareness of physiology and encourages continued progress in physiological sciences to address future health, environmental, and societal challenges.

The 100th Annual Meeting of The Physiological Society of Japan外部リンク

The 100th Annual Meeting was held in 2023, representing a major milestone in the Society's history.
The meeting celebrated a century of achievements in physiological research while bringing together researchers from diverse fields to discuss emerging scientific advances and future directions.
Building on the legacy established in 1922, the Society reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation, international collaboration, and the continued development of physiology for the next 100 years.
