Call for First-Round Candidates for the Next Society President (Deadline: September 30th)

Dear Society members,

The term of the current President will conclude at the end of the Regular General Assembly held during the Annual Meeting in March 2028. One year prior to that, the next President is to be selected, and a one‑year transition period will take place during fiscal year 2027. Details regarding the selection process for the next President are provided here.

The Committee for Recommending Candidates for the Next President will select at least three second‑round candidates from the first‑round candidates. These candidates can either be listed through self‑nomination or nomination by others. These candidates will then be voted on by the Councilors in an election administered by the Election Management Committee. Following this process, one final candidate will be chosen and formally approved at the Regular General Assembly held during the 2027 Annual Meeting held on March 2027.

We are now accepting applications for first‑round candidates for the next President. Eligible individuals include those who have been recommended by ten or more Councilors (nominated candidates) as well as members who wish to nominate themselves (self‑nominated candidates).

We kindly ask all members and Councilors to actively nominate individuals whom you believe to be suitable for the next President, whether through self‑nomination or nomination by others.

How to Apply

Please submit the nominee’s brief CV, a list of major achievements (download the required format below), and a short statement of recommendation (within one A4 page) by email no later than Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Please note that anonymous submissions will not be accepted.

For nominations made by Councilors, please obtain the nominee’s prior consent and include a list of all nominators (name, affiliation, position, and email address) together with the submission.

Please note that the current President is not eligible to be a candidate for the next President, because he has already served two terms.
