Japan has been selected to host the next IUPS 2029 Congress!

Dear Members of the Physiological Society of Japan(PSJ),

From 11 to 14 September, the 40th International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) Congress, IUPS2025, was held in Frankfurt, Germany, in conjunction with Europhysiology. Approximately 1,500 participants from 70 countries and regions (including around 70 from Japan) attended, and the event concluded successfully.

At the General Assembly, it was decided that the next IUPS 2029 Congress will be held in Kobe. PSJ will serve as the host of the IUPS 2029 Congress. Prior to the vote at the General Assembly, Professor Hiroshi Hibino (The University of Osaka), President of the IUPS 2029 Congress, delivered a powerful bid speech under the theme ‘Physiology Ahead – Towards a Borderless & Interdisciplinary Life Science’. Let us all work together to build momentum so that IUPS 2029 (Kobe) becomes a truly outstanding congress.

At the General Assembly, the officers and directors for the next term (2025–2029) were also elected. Professor Yasushi Okamura (The University of Osaka) was re-elected as Chair of the IUPS Council and Commission 6 (Molecular & Cellular Physiology). Furthermore, I, who had previously served as 2nd Vice-President, was elected as IUPS President.

That concludes our breaking news report.
