Notes	This symposium aims to review recent developments in the study of smooth muscle physiology, integrating traditional physiological knowledge with newly developed techniques and ideas. The symposium will be divided into 6 topics. Each topic will be introduced by review presentations from several selected speakers (please visit http://www.issm2009.jp/).
