Recruitment for the Department of Physiology (Kochi University)

1. Overview

The Department of Physiology (Integrative Physiology), Faculty of Medicine, is recruiting one Assistant Professor as described below.

2. Position and Field

Assistant Professor, specialized in Neurophysiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for education and research in the Faculty of Medicine.

3. Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:

  1. Holds a Ph. D degree (including those expected to obtain the degree by the time of appointment).
  2. Be capable of conducting research in the field of physiology and of providing education and research supervision to undergraduate and graduate students.
  3. Be willing to complete the new faculty training program after appointment.
  4. Preferably be able to apply as a principal investigator for external funding, including Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI), and be expected to further develop and advance their research.
  5. Be willing to participate in and contribute to university-wide educational programs.

6. Employment Conditions and Salary

  1. In accordance with internal regulations such as the “Kochi University Employment Regulations.” Specialized discretionary labor system applies (equivalent to 7 hours 45 minutes per day).
  2. Probationary period: 6 months
  3. Enrollment in the Mutual Aid Association for National Public Officials, Employment Insurance, and Workers’ Accident Compensation Insurance
  4. Upon appointment, salary will be determined based on the “Kochi University Annual Salary System Regulations.”
  5. Commuting allowance, housing allowance, and other allowances will be provided to those who meet the requirements.

10. Notes and Other Information

  1. During the selection process, applicants may be asked to participate in an interview (which may be conducted online depending on circumstances). Travel expenses for interviews will not be provided.
  2. In this department, a fixed-term employment system is applied. The term of appointment is five years, with the upper limit being the mandatory retirement age (March 31 following the date on which the faculty member reaches 65 years of age). Reappointment is possible in accordance with university regulations, and no fixed term will be applied after reappointment.
