FY2026 Sumisei Community Sports Promotion Grant Program (Sumitomo Life Health Foundation)
Fostering Healthy Living and Cultural Enrichment through Community Sports
1. Purpose
Sumitomo Life Health Foundation is offering the Community Sports Promotion Grant Program for FY2026.
Examples of projects eligible for this grant include:
- Initiatives that make effective use of local resources (human resources, nature, facilities, etc.)
- Activities that can be enjoyed together by people of all ages within the community
- Activities that can be enjoyed together with individuals in challenging circumstances, such as those with physical or mental disabilities, long-term medical treatment, or those belonging to social minorities
- Initiatives that incorporate new perspectives or creative approaches and demonstrate originality
This program offers two types of grant courses:
Challenge Course
Aimed to encourage new community sports initiatives and supporting their future independence and development.
- Grant period: 1 year (April 1, 2027 – March 31, 2028)
- Grant amount: Up to 500,000 yen per project (for one year)
- Number of grants: Approximately 16 projects
Advance Course
Aimed to expand the community sports beyond a single region or deepening community sports activities within a specific region.
- Grant period: 2 years (April 1, 2027 – March 31, 2029)
- Grant amount: 2,000,000–3,000,000 yen per project (total for two years)
- Number of grants: Approximately 4 projects
2. Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a private, non-profit organization with an activity base in Japan (type or presence of corporate status does not matter) and have a record of organizational activities.
- The organization’s mission and activities must not be biased toward political or religious purposes, and must have no involvement with anti-social forces.
3. Application Procedure
Download the application form from the foundation’s website and fill in the required information. Next, access the “Application Submission Page” via the “Application Submission Button,” enter basic information in the Submission Form for the course you wish to apply for, and upload both the completed application form and your organization’s articles of incorporation or regulations.
Applications will be accepted only through the “Submission Form” indicated above.
4. Application Period
Applications must arrive between: July 1 (Wed) – August 23 (Sun), 2026
5. Selection Process and Notification
Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee appointed by the foundation. Notification of results will be sent to all applicants by postal mail or email by the end of February 2027.
