July 10th – Physiology Day

“Physiology Day” was established by The Physiological Society of Japan (PSJ) on July 10th, 2022 to commemorate the 100th anniversary, to promote and enhance physiological sciences, ensuring their continued advancement in synchrony with the current health, environmental and social issues. Physiology is the study on how our body’s biological systems function in everyday life. It provides an in-depth understanding of body’s ability to adapt with different physical, psychological, emotional, social and environmental circumstances of our biological existence. Given this colossal importance of physiology, the first meeting of The Physiological Society of Japan took place on July 10th, 1922, at the University of Tokyo, School of Medicine. In 2022, The PSJ celebrated its centenary of foundation in 2022 with an event commemorating 100 years of physiological research and looking forward to the next 100 years of physiological studies.
